I recently attended for an appointment and I have to say how disappointed I was with the way in which the receptionist on duty spoke to another patient. I found her to be rude and she showed a complete lack of empathy with the poor young patient, who ended up leaving the reception desk looking hurt and upset by the way she had been spoken to.
We all realise that doctor's receptionists are busy but it is important for them to understand that they are also the first point of contact before patients see their doctor and therefore, they very much represent the practice and the impression people have of the care they hope to receive. Unfortunately with the new CQC gradings I wonder how this practice will fare if the receptionist in question is a true representation of how poorly some patients are communicated with - very disappointing.
I cannot fault this practice and would thoroughly recommend it to anybody! Great doctors, great nurses, grear staff. If you're going to be ill this is the place to do it!!
All members of staff from reception to the GP seem to care that the experience is as good as possible in-spite of heavy demand. Attention is personalised with each patient mattering
All the staff at the health centre are always polite, friendly and helpful. This applies to the receptionists, the nurses, the doctors and the pharmacists. Nothing is too much trouble and you are never made to feel you are being a nuisance however small your problem might be. It is without a doubt the best surgery we have ever been registered with.
I tried today to make an appointment with one of the GPs I know and importantly trust and understood that there might be a wait of a week or two. The receptionist who took my call today (10/4/15) was rude and sarcastic. I could not remember the name of one of the GPs (my memory is not great at the moment and one of the reasons I would like to see my Gp) and she mocked me. Fortunately I am a fairly robust person, an experienced nurse and trained in counselling and communication skills, I understood that she was busy but a lack of sympathy I find hard to understand.
I will be making an official complaint about this person as she could have caused hurt to a more vulnerable person and I would like to prevent that from happening.
